Temporary Site Work at Cambie & 59th

Hello fellow gardeners,

We have––somehow, it seems––arrived at the longest days of the year. Relief and rejuvenation are in the air, are they not? And our plants are looking healthier than ever.

Here are a few important updates for June:

SITE WORK

You’ve probably noticed some temporary changes to the garden. In order to make space for site work, we’ve had to relocate a handful of beds (don't worry: the garden beds are built on pallets for this reason!).

Relocated beds will be placed along the western side of the garden for the next 4-6 weeks. When site work is complete, these beds will be placed right back where they've always been.

Here are the beds that have been affected:

7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30
31, 32, 33, 34, 47, 48, 49, 65, 66, 75, 76, 92, 93, 94

And a final note to say that the green waste boxes have also been temporarily relocated to the northeast corner of the site.

UNUSED BEDS

We have passed the deadline for planting/making use of your garden beds. To this end, we’ll be making note of all empty and unused beds and beginning the process of removing these gardeners.

Demand for growing space is so high right now, and we want to put each and every bed to use. If you haven’t started gardening yet, consider this your final notice. And if you’re not able to make use of your bed(s), please let us know ASAP so we can bring in a new gardener from our immense wait list.

GET WATERING

Temperatures are already climbing up, and as we get deeper into summer, watering becomes a bigger priority. Regular, thorough watering is your best defense against the heat. And if you can’t make it to the garden every 2-3 days, consider asking a neighbour or making use of one of the ‘Water Me’ signs in the garden shed.
