March at the Cambie & 59th Garden

Hello fellow gardeners,

Spring is almost here at the garden and we hope that you are excited to start growing!

Here are a few important garden notices:

REGISTRATION IN APRIL

We’ll provide details for how to register and pay for your garden beds for the 2021 growing season in our April newsletter. Until then, feel free to get started in the garden.

As a reminder: you will keep the same garden beds you’ve always grown in for 2021.

Please note that there are no additional beds available for current gardeners. The garden is at capacity, and any available beds will be offered to folks on our (very long) wait list. Thanks for your understanding!

COMPOST DROP

We’ll be delivering a pile of organic compost to the garden during the last week of March. This is provided free for all gardeners. Be sure to add a thin layer on your garden bed to keep your soil nutrient-dense.

WATERING SYSTEM

The watering system and garden hoses will be set up and installed after the last frost (late March/early April). Your garden bed will most likely not need much water now, but the hoses can be handy for washing hands and hand tools and watering in those first seeds and starts.

COVID PROTOCOL

As things ramp up in the garden, we’ll remind everyone to continue to be diligent with COVID-19 protocol:

  • Do not visit the garden if you are sick or feeling unwell

  • Keep a minimum distance of 2 meters between you and other gardeners

  • Bring your own hand tools

  • Avoid gathering in large groups

  • Wear a mask in the garden

In addition, we will not be hosting our normal Spring Meet-and-Greet event. Fingers crossed for next year!

Here’s to longer days.
