Hi gardeners,
We hope you have had a lovely month of seed starting and crop planning as the daffodils and cherry blossoms begin to bloom!
Here are a couple of reminders and updates as spring rolls in:
COMPOST DROP
We have now delivered compost to all garden sites. This is provided free for all gardeners. Be sure to add a thin layer to your garden bed to keep your soil nutrient-dense.
WATER IS TURNED ON
The watering system and garden hoses have been set up and the water is on. Your garden bed will most likely not need much water now, but the hoses can be handy for washing hands and hand tools and watering those first seeds and starts.
MIX IN LEAVES
Keep your winter leaf topping in, and mix the leaves into the soil. This creates a nutrient-dense addition to the compost!
TOOLS
Please remember to bring your own hand tools to the gardens

VANCOUVER COMMUNITY FRIDGE PROJECT
The Vancouver Community Fridge Project is a decentralized food distribution network created to provide healthy, free food and essential supplies to communities across Vancouver. Their mission is to combat food insecurity and to decrease food waste by encouraging our communities to take part in laterally-directed mutual aid, starting with providing free, safe, non-policed, accessible and nutritious foods through community fridges and pantries.
The Vancouver Community Fridge Project is a great opportunity to give back to the community by sharing some of the delicious fresh food that you grow with neighbours and community members. If you are interested in donating to the Community Fridge Project, check out their list of fridges and find a location that works for you!
