Hello fellow gardeners,
Spring is almost here at the 4th & MacDonald garden and we hope that you are excited to start growing! The first day of spring is fast approaching (March 19th is officially Spring!) and we can already see that plants are budding up and reaching for the sun. The days are getting warmer and I’m starting to smell the faint whiff of early spring flowers in the air.
Here are a few important garden notices:
REGISTRATION - MARCH 15, 2020
We’re launching a new online gardener registration sign-up system...the Community Garden App! Sign up starts March 15, 2020 and we will send out an email with a link to register for the upcoming season.
As always, the garden beds you were allocated in 2019 are yours for 2020!
COMPOST DROP!
We’ll have a huge drop of fresh organic compost in the garden in the first week of April. This is provided free for all gardeners! Be sure to add a thin layer on your garden bed to keep your soil nutrient-dense.
WATERING SYSTEM
The watering system and garden hoses will be set up and installed during the first week of April. Your garden bed will most likely not need much water now, but the hoses can be handy for washing hands and hand tools and watering in those first seeds and starts.
APRIL MEET-AND-GREET
Our annual Spring meet-and-greet event at the garden will happen in April. We’ll keep you posted on event details. This is a great time to meet your fellow gardeners, plant your first seeds and ask us any garden related questions you might have.
This event also serves as an opportunity to pay fees with cash and register in person.
Happy March!
