SOUTHEAST FALSE CREEK TEMPORARY COMMUNITY GARDEN
The Southeast False Creek Temporary Community Garden was a temporary growing space in the False Creek Flats/Olympic Village neighbourhood of Vancouver, BC, Canada. Located on the corner of Wylie St. and 2nd Ave. W., the garden was build atop a vacant lot. Built in 2014, the garden had 222 community garden beds, seating, and garden art . The allotment garden was for built for community members to grow food and flowers as an interim land-use.
The garden was decommissioned after 4 successful growing seasons in late 2017. The garden was removed and the project was completed with the construction of high-density residential housing. The project journey was successful: vacant lot > temporary garden > housing.
