Dunbar & 40th Temporary Community Garden
The Dunbar & 40th Temporary Community Garden was a temporary growing space in the Dunbar neighbourhood in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Built in 2012, the garden had 46 community garden beds, seating, unique community-made fencing and a community board. This allotment garden was for community members to grow food and flowers.
The garden was decommissioned after 9(!) successful growing seasons in 2021. The garden was removed and the project was completed with the construction of high-density residential housing. The project journey was successful: vacant lot > temporary garden > housing.
