dunbar & 28th Interim Community Garden
The Dunbar & 28th Interim Community Garden was a temporary growing space in the Dunbar neighbourhood of Vancouver, BC, Canada. The garden was located at the corner of Dunbar St. and West 28th Ave. The temporary growing space was assembled in October 2019 and had 200 wheelchair-accessible community garden beds, in addition to seating, garden art and a community noticeboard! This allotment garden was for community members to grow food and flowers.
The garden was decommissioned after 3 successful growing seasons in late 2021. The garden was removed and the project was completed with the construction of high-density residential housing. The project journey was successful: vacant lot > temporary garden > housing.
